Visit 13 Dec 2009

After more than a month away from Mindsville, visits finally resumed this past Saturday - something both residents and volunteers could celebrate about.

With Christmas coming up in less than two weeks, it was no surprise that the agenda for arts and crafts was holiday-themed as well.

So... what are we making today?

Let's begin by decorating our sheets of papers festively!

Now it's time to add in some Ferrero Rocher chocolates or Wang Wang rice crackers

Roll the paper around it... twist the ends...

Voila! A festive-food-filled christmas cracker!

And what are these colourful papers for?

Tracing the outlines of a christmas tree...

Since Singapore has one permanent season, why not create some "snow" of our own?

There's blue... and red...

And blue AND red with a yellow star!

After a fulfilling arts and crafts session, it was time to get moving for some station games.

Hmm... almost looks like a message in Braille

Quick! The other team is winning!

Go for the yellow! Stre~tch!

And what do we have here?

Collect water from one pail, go to the other end and squeeze the water out into another bucket with a washcloth!

Kicking the ball around the cones

Then, carrying the ball up the slope

End it off with a little hoola-hoop shaking!

After the station games, it was time to celebrate the birthdays of those born in November and December.

Not one delicious cake...

But TWO delicious cakes!

Happy birthday to you... Happy birthday to you...

Time for the birthday boy and girl to cut the cakes!

Here's an early Merry Christmas to everyone!

All in all, it was great to finally be back at Mindsville and see the smiles of the residents there again. Now, they have something REALLY fun and exciting to look forward to this coming Saturday! Whatever could it be? You'll just have to wait and see (:
